My Review

I went to this company to host a simple website. Before picking a plan I spoke with a tech from Bluehost. I told him what kind of site, my vision for this site, and I even asked if I was going to run into any unexpected costs in the future. He assured me that the Basic Plan would be perfect for me. I really drilled this guy. I just didn’t want to commit to this and find myself regretting it.

So I went with the basic. My site was small, and I transferred it to Bluehost. For the first 6 or 7 days, everything went along great. I had a little of a learning curve because the dashboard was different from what I’m used to. But that didn’t stop me.

About the 6th days, I started running into issues. I could write my content just fine, but saving it was a different story. At first, I thought it was on my end. So I spent the day, losing content, and then learning to write in notepad so that I had a copy of what I was spent a lot of time working on. Other platforms that I had blogs or websites, I was having no issues there.

On the second day, I contacted support. That in itself was a joke. So I went to Facebook, and usually, that gets things rolling. Which it did. This guy sounded like he really wanted to help me. He had me downloaded a plugin. I was told this would take care of everything.

Shortly after installing the said plugin, and it made no change, I really began to regret this whole deal. Now when I contact tech support they try up selling me.

Now I know this is a business, but that first guy I talked with assured me that for $2.95 a month, which I went ahead and paid for a year. Would do me just fine.

So, I go back to Facebook and Craig isn’t there. I get a gal that tells me that this is an issue for tech support. I’ve had enough. I told the gal I had a money back guarantee, and I wanted to cancel my account.  Again, I was told I needed to contact tech support, again.

I go back to Bluehost, put a ticket into tech support about canceling my membership. I didn’t need this headache. The next day they contact me, all “what can we do to correct this situation for you?” I told them, again, what my issue was and again, they try getting me to upgrade my plan.

I could go on and on, but I did finally get them to cancel my membership, days before the money back guarantee would have expired. I get only a portion of my money back, cause they prorated my membership. Thus, probably why they dragged their feet.

Pros:

Prices appear decent

Decent response time from tech support

Cons:

Just read my above review.

They wanted more money from me after I was told the plan I was considering was right for me.

Constantly trying to up-sell you

My Final Word

I’m not a complicated person, I told the salesperson what I needed at that moment, as well as down the road. I was misinformed. Whether intentional or not I can’t say. Would I recommend this business, NO.

I did not care for their service. And I believe if I would’ve upgraded, well I would’ve been nickel and dime the whole time if I remained. Thanks, but no thanks. It may be the norm, to do what Bluehost has done, but personally, that is not how I would expect to be treated by a reputable company.

My rating 2 out of 10. The 2 stars are for the 2 pros I had to dig deep to come up with.
